Landscapes of my Childhood Weekends
Landscapes of my childhood weekends
Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg’s second city and once the economic powerhouse during country’s ‘industrial revolution’ was also a sort of second home to me; as I child I spent many weekends here at my grandparents’.
In a somewhat eerie manner, the city and its industrial architecture – never people though – still occasionally resurface in my dreams today. So over the past Christmas weekend, I decided to go back to see what was left of the place where I had once spent so much time, find out what had changed and try to capture it with my camera.
My grandmother died in 1986; this was my first visit back to Esch since her death: 25 years later.
